Family Ministry

Philosophy

The Department of the Family Ministry of the South American Division, recognizing the important role of the family, both in the lives of believers and in non-believers, aims to strengthen the home as a disciple-forming center. In this center, family members will feel supported in their relationship with Christ and with His Church through their interpersonal relationships, and will develop the skills of relating to each other and to others.

The department promotes a clear understanding of God's ideals for family life, inviting all people, spouses and parents, to seek divine ideals, and to exercise Christ's redemptive and restorative ministry. Efforts made in favor of families are considered urgent, vital and an integral part of the Church's mission.

Mission

The Mission of the Family Ministry is to support relationships between husband and wife, and between parents and children, through premarital guidance, the dissemination of laws governing marriage and parenting, supporting the needs of lonely parents and family needs of people alone.

Purposes

The Department of the Family Ministry, recognizing the strength and mutual support that the church should provide to the home, and the home to the church, has adopted the following objectives for the church's mission to become a reality:

  1. Proclaim the revitalizing and restorative message of the eternal gospel in the context of family life.
  2. Affirm and strengthen each Seventh-day Adventist family to become the main disciple-forming unit.
  3. Helping parents to increase their ability to transmit to the next generation, in an attractive and participatory way, the Christian values supported by the Church, which will result in faith
  4. Helping families to develop a sense of belonging to the “family of God”.
  5. Prioritize the home as the most important mission field.
  6. To spread among all families the family guidelines that Adventists consider to have received through special revelation from God, through the ministry of Ellen G. White.
